Love Indian Summer!

It is not supposed to be 89 degrees
at the end of September in New England.

If the pools were still open we might
be swimming in Halloween costumes.

The weather feels like Indian Summer,
but the leaves have not turned their
brilliant colors and we have not had
a killer frost.

In 1817, John Bradbury described
Indian Summer well when he wrote:
“The air is perfectly quiescent
and all is stillness, as if Nature,
after her exertions during the
summer, were now at rest.”

Perhaps you can honor the wisdom
of mother nature and allow yourself
a period of REST before the
next season gets underway.

Bridge the endeavors of the busy
past and give your precious self
a loving break.

Find time to simply REST and
luxuriate in the stillness.

May you have a glorious today
so that tomorrow will be laced
with the gratitude of yesterday.

Be well and stay that way,

Love the Passing Lane!

While traveling to New Hampshire
from western Massachusetts, I
found myself using the passing
lane most of the time.

The trip was well over two hours
and the commuter traffic
and tractor trailers would have
delayed my arrival if I had traveled
the speed limit behind them.

The passing lane is a powerful idea
and I am grateful for the way it can
quicken the pace to the final destination.

But there is a cost.

You can’t take time to enjoy the scenery
or the landscape, the sun rise or the
design of clouds in the sky.

Paying attention to just driving, at
breakneck speed, is paramount to safety.

One time I was the only car on the road,
still in the passing lane, when I became
aware that I wasn’t passing anything!

The only car on the road and all alone in
my car gave me pause to think.  Why not
slow down, take a deep delicious breath and
realize that I can celebrate just being me.

“My timing is perfect for my welfare and my
prosperity”, is the affirmation I have used
for many years, and it helps me slow down.

When you find yourself in the passing lane,
whether on the road or even in life,
slow down enough to remember that you
are special and dearly loved.

Pay attention to becoming  your own best friend,
especially when you are traveling at
breakneck speed and are all alone.

Be well and stay that way,

Love the Rock!

Many years ago, while I was in Indiana,
I saw what looked like a deflated kick ball
sitting alone in the middle of a wooded path.

As I got closer, I was shocked to discover
that the object was a perfectly spherical rock.

The shape was definitely unique, but the
surface was smooth, even and surprisingly calm.

What a find!

I just had to have the tiny little boulder and
I packed it in my suitcase to carry home.
Airport security was very different back then.

Sometimes we feel deflated, alone, rather rough,
perhaps coarse on the surface and uneven around
the edges.

As you come to love yourself, you will begin to
notice the peaceful, still and tranquil inner
strength of purpose and intention.

Keep your self love packed in your suitcase
ready to carry with you.  Make it lighter than
a rock, heavier than a whisper and just as soft
as your breath!

Be well and stay that way,
Gena

Love “THE FORCE”

Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Cinderella
have taken a back seat to Luke Skywalker!

My four year old granddaughter, Aliya,
is asking for a white shirt and black
trousers to replace the fluffy, extravagant
gowns of story book royalty.

Although she has never seen the movie,
“Star Wars”, this young Jedi is captivated
by the epic saga being told by
her elders.

Rather than playing the wicked witch,
or the jealous queen, from the
fairy tales, Aliya is using fantasy
and make-believe to reconcile the
same struggles between good and evil.

The inner voice, the one that
Obi-Wan Kenobi represents in “Star Wars”,
is clear and brilliant for all of us.
When you learn to love yourself, you develop
the courage to know what is right and what
is in your best interest.

Listen to the soft voice that comes from your
heart. Have faith and a commitment to
begin to tame any self doubting statements,
negative thoughts or self criticisms.

Know that your are loved and self love
is the highest force in the universe.

We are all brave Jedi Knights in this human
adventure. Now, go forth and delight in life.

“May the Force be with YOU”
