Love “THE FORCE”

Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Cinderella
have taken a back seat to Luke Skywalker!

My four year old granddaughter, Aliya,
is asking for a white shirt and black
trousers to replace the fluffy, extravagant
gowns of story book royalty.

Although she has never seen the movie,
“Star Wars”, this young Jedi is captivated
by the epic saga being told by
her elders.

Rather than playing the wicked witch,
or the jealous queen, from the
fairy tales, Aliya is using fantasy
and make-believe to reconcile the
same struggles between good and evil.

The inner voice, the one that
Obi-Wan Kenobi represents in “Star Wars”,
is clear and brilliant for all of us.
When you learn to love yourself, you develop
the courage to know what is right and what
is in your best interest.

Listen to the soft voice that comes from your
heart. Have faith and a commitment to
begin to tame any self doubting statements,
negative thoughts or self criticisms.

Know that your are loved and self love
is the highest force in the universe.

We are all brave Jedi Knights in this human
adventure. Now, go forth and delight in life.

“May the Force be with YOU”

Love the Beautiful Smell!

The authenticity of young children
can make you smile.  They are usually
true to themselves and often express
their inner wisdom without concern
about judgment from others.

My granddaughter, Aliya is only four years
old and already she has a sense of what
is amazing in life.

One morning, while I was visiting her family,
young Aliya, burst into the kitchen
and stopped dead in her tracks.

“What is that beautiful smell?” she questioned
as she made her way over to the table.

Her dad had just made fried eggs for breakfast.
The  aroma of fried eggs can be scrumptious;
especially when you are hungry, but “beautiful”
is not an adjective I have ever used to describe
the smell of eggs.

For Aliya, she didn’t know what she was smelling
and so her senses simply targeted the elegance and
deliciousness of the moment.

Celebrate your authentic self as you continue to
learn how to fall in love with all the parts of
you.  Stop in your tracks every so often and
drink in the aroma of the moment.

Be present for the magnificence of what is
happening.  Stay true to yourself and intuitively
self love will continue to glow from within.

Be well and stay that way,

Love that YOU are Loved!

Have you ever been the victim
of cyberspace scam?  Ruthless hackers
have no idea how many people their
mischief affects. Or do they?

Without me knowing, cyberspace villains
used my entire contact list and sent
out a very disturbing message about me
being in terrible trouble.

I have spent more than 48 hours trying to
clean up the mess that these cyber-bullies
created and tell people that
I am just fine.

Exhausted and while working out the stress
in my dreams, I came to an amazing conclusion:
I am truly loved!!

The entire idea brings tears to my eyes
and creates a lump in my throat.
I am truly blessed!

I have been telling you for years that
falling in love with yourself is the most
precious love of all. Learn to love
yourself the way others love you.

Now I know that when others express their
love and care for you, it makes the act of loving
yourself rich, glorious and “right in your face”!

Know that you are loved, by me and by so many in
your life. Relish  in the delight of how
lovable you are. Know that your precious self
can endure any scam that might come your way
in life.

Be well and stay that way,

Love Your Brain!

My recently published book,
“Love Your Slim Self”, offers
you ideas and skills on how
to love all aspects of yourself,
not just the slim inner self
many of you are seeking.

One aspect of yourself that is
most important to love is the
beautiful, powerful brain that
you all have.

Love is a flow of energy and
information that moves from
your heart to your brain and
back again.

All the latest research supports
the potential of improving your
life by changing your brain.

Take a look at what the Foundation
Mind Up is promoting.

Goldie Hawn,a famous actress and lover
of science, talks with Dan Seigle the
author of MindSight.  Together they
are dedicating their research to helping
people change their lives by knowing more
about the brain.

Love the Sting!

Why would anyone want to
wake up in the morning
angry or mad?

Coming out of sleep can be a
delicious opportunity to start
living all over again.

Yesterday my daughter left a
message on my cell phone.

“Hi mom, she started, “just wanted
to tell you that I woke up this
morning at seven and was really mad.
To make matters worse, I got stung
on the bottom of my foot
when I stepped on a bee!”

She went on to figure out for herself
that being mad in the morning was a waste
of time and energy.

Her conclusion made me smile and there
was a lightness in her voice as she
finished her reporting….”Of course
the universe was punching me for
being mad at seven in the morning”.

It was a wise bit of advice from a
beautiful young adult.

Wake up and remind yourself that you always
have a choice.  Being angry at anytime will
only sting YOU, even without a bee on your
doorstep.

Wake up in the morning with a sense of gratitude
and appreciation. Exercise your ability to love
yourself with patience and compassion. Those
qualities will pave the way for a smoother day.

Love the missing tooth!

There is a retainer in my mouth to fill the
hole in my smile.  I had a tooth pulled last
week and with the artistry of dentistry no
one knows that a tooth is missing.

The orthodontic device is awkward, weird
and feels like a big spoon of peanut butter
stuck to the top of my palate.

Even though I know the device is important to
help my teeth stay aligned and complete my
smile, I am annoyed that I have to wear it.

The retainer reminds me there is a part of
me missing and something has changed.

News FLASH!…everything is always changing.

If you can fog a mirror, you are changing
with every breath.

The easiest way to deal with change is with
loving compassion, acceptance, and some
curious interest and then do the best you
can to cope and move on.

There is nothing I can do about the fact that
I am one tooth shy of a full set of teeth.
And it doesn’t mean I have to compromise
anything about who I am in my quest to find
my purpose.

What reminds you of being who you are and
that you are just enough no matter what might
be missing in your life.

Fill the space with the warmth, love  and the joy
of  living life to the fullest.  Simply look at the
change as just change…..nothing more and
give yourself permission to move forward into
tomorrow with ease and delight…Keep BREATHING!

Be well and stay that way,

Love the relief!

Your physical body is an amazing instrument
of information.  When there is a problem,
your body instinctively wants to return
to health and well being.

Discomfort is a signal that something
is wrong and you need to pay attention.

Your emotional body may also suffer.
The hurt can be so deep that your heart
is actually experiencing pain.
Our language supports the suffering
by calling it a “heartache”.

The other night, the pain in my tooth
was so extreme I just wanted to have
someone pull it out.

In primitive societies chisel-shaped
pieces of wood pounded against the
tooth were used for extraction.

That was the image I held on to as I
struggled with the excruciating ache
in my mouth.

Sure enough, a visit to the dentist,
the root canal specialist and finally
the facial surgeon brought the sought
after relief.

The crack in my tooth had destroyed
the nerve and they could do nothing to
save it.

There is a hole in my smile and all
I need is an eye patch to dress up
as a pirate.

Be gentle, compassionate and patient
with yourself when you are in pain.
Notice that you are hurting and ask
for help in order to love the relief.

Any good friend would urge you to take
care of yourself.  Loving yourself is a
way to recognize that you are your own
best friend.

The healing takes time and begins with
acknowledging that you are top priority
in your own world.

Gena

Love your Back-Up!

Is there someone in your life who keeps
reminding you to “back-up” the files on
your computer?

Listen to them…and do it.

If your computer crashes or is damaged,
you will end up in a puddle of desperate
remorse with no possibility to retrieve
the lost information.

Create a method to secure your data and
make “back-up” a habit of smart technology.

On my computer, there is a program that
keeps my files safe out there in cyber-space.
I don’t have to think about it.

Let’s talk about the “back-up” system
for loving yourself.

You have been putting in the effort to
recognize that you are special and precious.

Self love, confident personal self worth,
and positive self esteem are becoming
the internal files on the hard drive
of your mind.

The “back-up” system to self love is
simple and inexpensive.

Create a “Self Love Box” and fill it with
memories that will keep you loving yourself:

*Write down things you have done in your life that
made you feel proud.
*Jot notes about what people have said to you
that made you feel great.
*Keep thank-you cards, birthday cards and love
notes you receive from people you care about.

Use the “Self Love Box” to recharge love for yourself,
re-ignite your inner glow, and on a challenging day,
re-boot your crashed computer like mind.

Be well and stay that way,
Gena

Love Your Mat!

The lovely yoga instructor directed
us to relax on our mat in a comfortable
and easy position.

She caught me by surprise when she said,
“allow yourself to take up as much space
as you would like.”

Her words triggered an expansion of
possibility in my mind.

Did she intend for me to sprawl out on
the mat or was her instruction meant
to magnify my inner self by taking up
more space?

The challenging action was to focus
on an internal expansion of myself.
As I began to mentally take up more
space, I had the feeling of confidence,
connection, hopefulness, security and
even optimism.

The impulse to smile came without warning
and I melted away any doubt that my lovely
self was the most important person in the
moment.

Let the yoga mat remind you of your own
significance and how precious you are.

Your  ability to take up space in the
world is a birth right. You are encouraged
to let your light shine.

Enjoy the sense of connection with your
body and love yourself into becoming
your own best friend.

Smiles,
Gena

Love the Art!

“Starry Night” by Vincent van Gogh,
is one of the most famous paintings of
our time.  He completed the masterpiece
while in an Asylum at Saint-Remy in 1889.

The memory of the picture came to my mind
when I read this quote by the artist:

“The more I think it over,
the more I feel that there is
nothing more truly artistic
than to love people.”
by:Vincent van Gogh

http://www.vangoghgallery.com/painting/starryindex.html

Let me shift the focus for you and say:

“The most delicious act of art
is to fall in love with yourself!”

As you travel through life there
will be times when you wish that
things would turn out differently.

Your struggles and challenges can be
discouraging, frightening, make you feel
irrational, silly, unstable or even a
little crazy.

You are on a continuous journey to remember
that joy is unconditionally available to you.

Happiness, bliss, pleasure and delight are as
easy and abundant as your breath.

Driving home, Christina Aguilera, the famous
musical artist, filled my car with the
inspiration of her song “I am Beautiful”.

For me it confirmed that not only am
I beautiful,
but you are beautiful
we are beautiful
and nothing can bring
us down today.

Here is the link to her song and the words:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1cO11k6G_I&NR=1

Give yourself permission to sing along with her
amazing charm and belief in you.

You willingness to hear the words and sing out loud
will muster a smile from within that will last
indefinitely.  Enjoy!

Peace,
Gena
