Love a tint of PINK!
Here in New England almost over night the maple leaves
exploded into brilliant shades of yellow, orange and red.
As I was driving down the street, I was chatting with myself
over the fact that in all my life here I don’t know if I had ever seen such
intense, lustrous, sparkling, gleaming pigments from fall foliage.
The landscape looked like a magical wonderland.
It wasn’t until I removed the new sunglasses I was wearing
that I realized my reality of glorious
color had been altered by the “pink tint”
in the lenses of the glasses.
The world looked more beautiful with just
a tiny bit of extra zest and I smiled
as I played with the change in my perception.
When you truly are in love with yourself,
the world can be like wearing glasses with a ‘pink tint”.
Everything is more brilliant, encouraging,
safe, exciting and ready. The universe is ALWAYS poised to support your
wishes, wants, hopes and dreams.
What matters most is how you see yourself.
This falling in love with yourself will be the most life changing and fun love affair you will ever have.
Smiles,
Gena
P.S. For your extra enjoyment:
My granddaughters spent some time re-creating the story PINKALICIOUS by Victoria Kann. The Pink tint in my sunglasses reminded me of their delightful enthusiasm and innocent wisdom from a simple story of self love.

Love your Valise!
What happened to the small overnight
traveling bag called a valise?
A French description originally used
back in the mid 1500’s, a valise is
hard to come by today.
In order to feel comfortable, we require
too much stuff to fit in a small valise,
even for an overnight trip.
“A get-away”, usually requires a bag for
clothes, a bag for shoes and boots, a bag
for cosmetics, a bag for reading material,
a bag for your computer, a bag for beach
paraphernalia and if you are like me,
a bag for your pillow!
When you are very young, you don’t need
much to feel comfortable in a new place.
This image says it all:
http://www.fotosearch.fr/bigcomp.asp?path=IGS/IGS115/EV018-039.jpg
If you only had a small valise to carry your
most precious self, what would you pack it with?
My suggestion is to stuff it with:
affirmations of self love, thoughts of possibility,
actions that would honor your ability,
feelings of self worth, ideals for anticipated successes,
and images of dreams and aspirations for your future.
It’s your bag, pack what works for you!
You only need a tiny bit of fanciful hope to
change your life!
I wish you a glorious today so that tomorrow
will be laced with the gratitude of yesterday.

Love the Music!
What have you been listening
to lately? I mean, what kind of music?
A community theater production
recently motivated me to play some
Broadway tunes from years ago.
While doing household chores this weekend,
I cranked up the volume and listened to
the songs I remembered and fell in love
again with the musical memories.
Enjoy Linda Eder singing from
“Man of La Mancha”… That show was
my first Broadway Musical.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ynrky_iw6Q&feature=related
My home was filled with the sounds of musical
theater and the housework seemed effortless.
I delighted in singing along and sometimes
dancing with carefree enthusiasm.
Music can stir the energy that lightens
your heart, soothes your soul and inspires
your spirit.
Honor your lovely singing self by playing
some of your old favorite musical show tunes.
While no one is watching, sing along,
dance in the kitchen and turn on the
light you have within your very precious self.
Pass this along and have your friends sign up for F*ree

Keep singing,

Love “THE FORCE”
Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Cinderella
have taken a back seat to Luke Skywalker!
My four year old granddaughter, Aliya,
is asking for a white shirt and black
trousers to replace the fluffy, extravagant
gowns of story book royalty.
Although she has never seen the movie,
“Star Wars”, this young Jedi is captivated
by the epic saga being told by
her elders.
Rather than playing the wicked witch,
or the jealous queen, from the
fairy tales, Aliya is using fantasy
and make-believe to reconcile the
same struggles between good and evil.
The inner voice, the one that
Obi-Wan Kenobi represents in “Star Wars”,
is clear and brilliant for all of us.
When you learn to love yourself, you develop
the courage to know what is right and what
is in your best interest.
Listen to the soft voice that comes from your
heart. Have faith and a commitment to
begin to tame any self doubting statements,
negative thoughts or self criticisms.
Know that your are loved and self love
is the highest force in the universe.
We are all brave Jedi Knights in this human
adventure. Now, go forth and delight in life.

ideas that were inspired by “Yoda”, the Jedi Master

Love the relief!
Your physical body is an amazing instrument
of information. When there is a problem,
your body instinctively wants to return
to health and well being.
Discomfort is a signal that something
is wrong and you need to pay attention.
Your emotional body may also suffer.
The hurt can be so deep that your heart
is actually experiencing pain.
Our language supports the suffering
by calling it a “heartache”.
The other night, the pain in my tooth
was so extreme I just wanted to have
someone pull it out.
In primitive societies chisel-shaped
pieces of wood pounded against the
tooth were used for extraction.
That was the image I held on to as I
struggled with the excruciating ache
in my mouth.
Sure enough, a visit to the dentist,
the root canal specialist and finally
the facial surgeon brought the sought
after relief.
The crack in my tooth had destroyed
the nerve and they could do nothing to
save it.
There is a hole in my smile and all
I need is an eye patch to dress up
as a pirate.
Be gentle, compassionate and patient
with yourself when you are in pain.
Notice that you are hurting and ask
for help in order to love the relief.
Any good friend would urge you to take
care of yourself. Loving yourself is a
way to recognize that you are your own
best friend.
The healing takes time and begins with
acknowledging that you are top priority
in your own world.
Be well and stay that way,

Love your Back-Up!
Is there someone in your life who keeps
reminding you to “back-up” the files on
your computer?
Listen to them…and do it.
If your computer crashes or is damaged,
you will end up in a puddle of desperate
remorse with no possibility to retrieve
the lost information.
Create a method to secure your data and
make “back-up” a habit of smart technology.
On my computer, there is a program that
keeps my files safe out there in cyber-space.
I don’t have to think about it.
Let’s talk about the “back-up” system
for loving yourself.
You have been putting in the effort to
recognize that you are special and precious.
Self love, confident personal self worth,
and positive self esteem are becoming
the internal files on the hard drive
of your mind.
The “back-up” system to self love is
simple and inexpensive.
Create a “Self Love Box” and fill it with
memories that will keep you loving yourself:
*Write down things you have done in your life that
made you feel proud.
*Jot notes about what people have said to you
that made you feel great.
*Keep thank-you cards, birthday cards and love
notes you receive from people you care about.
Use the “Self Love Box” to recharge love for yourself,
re-ignite your inner glow, and on a challenging day,
re-boot your crashed computer like mind.
Be well and stay that way,
Gena

Love Your Mat!
The lovely yoga instructor directed
us to relax on our mat in a comfortable
and easy position.
She caught me by surprise when she said,
“allow yourself to take up as much space
as you would like.”
Her words triggered an expansion of
possibility in my mind.
Did she intend for me to sprawl out on
the mat or was her instruction meant
to magnify my inner self by taking up
more space?
The challenging action was to focus
on an internal expansion of myself.
As I began to mentally take up more
space, I had the feeling of confidence,
connection, hopefulness, security and
even optimism.
The impulse to smile came without warning
and I melted away any doubt that my lovely
self was the most important person in the
moment.
Let the yoga mat remind you of your own
significance and how precious you are.
Your ability to take up space in the
world is a birth right. You are encouraged
to let your light shine.
Enjoy the sense of connection with your
body and love yourself into becoming
your own best friend.
Smiles,
Gena

Love Your Hands!
It’s 89 degrees outside and I am
making a blueberry rhubarb pie!
One of my favorite things to do,
when I have a little time to fuss
in the kitchen, is to make a pie.
There was a moment that I thought
I must be crazy to bake in such heat,
but my attention was captivated by
what my hands were doing.
Without any prompting, the appendages
of digits on my forelimbs, had a
mind of their own.
I watched with amazement as my hands
wandered in and out of the flour
container measuring and sifting
the ingredients to prepare the
pie crust.
The memory of shape and thickness
came naturally as my hands grabbed the
rolling pin and began flattening
the dough. They knew exactly when
to stop rolling.
A moment of tender reflection
twinkled in my mind, as I remembered
my mother’s love of baking pies.
Take time to stop and watch the
actions of your own hands. Perhaps
you can pay attention when you are
driving, typing on the computer,
gardening, knitting, cooking,
brushing your teeth, eating dinner
or getting dressed.
Smile at your hands and say out loud,
“thank you”. Offer this gesture
of gratitude to your hands for all
they do for you.
Loving your hands is a simple
and honest way to connect to your
body. Loving yourself is the
beginning of connecting to your joy.
Enjoy the pie!

Love the Horse Training!
What does Horse Training have to do
with loving yourself?
On a sunny afternoon, I had a
delightful opportunity to
visit Claire and Mystery, two
beautiful horses. They were
charming, majestic and very
well behaved.
But horse training????
How can that possibly help us
love ourselves.
The Parelli Method of Natural
Horsemanship is a way to have
fun with horses and achieve
amazing results.
The basic philosophy is that there
really are no problems, just solutions
waiting to happen.
The first principal is that
HORSES are fine just the way
they are.
The next consideration is that
the only training aids are love,
language and leadership in
equal amounts.
Simply stated it is relationship,
communication and trustworthiness
that makes the difference.
I was able to capture the strength
and beauty of Mystery on video.
Think about your journey to training
yourself towards self love.

Are you just fine, the way you are?
Are you cultivating love and positive
inner self talk as you lead yourself towards
a happier and a more joyous life?
Consider the relationship you are cultivating
with yourself. You are precious and your effort
to fall in love with yourself is the foundation
for personal health, happiness and well being.

Love the Storm!
While I was up too late, working on
the computer, a horrifying rain
storm blew through the area
around midnight.
In less than an hour, trees and
power lines dropped like leaves
falling to the ground. When the
lights went out and the computer
sounded off, I was sure it Kansas,
in the middle of Dorothy’s
tornado.
Destruction happened quickly and
without warning. There was a
whirlwind of debris all over the
neighborhood.
In the morning light and the calm of
the next day, we were able to
assess the damage and put things
back in balance.
In the wake of the fury, we could only
wait for the storm to pass before we
could make things right.
Have you had the experience of an
emotional storm rise inside you,
without warning, and throw you off
center?
In that emotional fury, did you
choose to express the energy as an
angry outburst,a disappointing encounter,
an irritating look, a frustrating
conversation, an annoying attitude
or even a violent attack?
If you wait for the storm to pass, just
wait it out, the emotional energy will
move THROUGH you rather than USING
you to do damage to those
you love and cherish.
Practice being your own best friend and
wait with yourself until the tempest moves on.
Linger in a place of patience, compassion,
love, gratitude and forgiveness. The energy
will calm, your thinking will clear, your attitude
will become kind, your heart will open and you
will make a different choice of behavior.
There will be no mess to clean up in the morning.
Practice the self love you are learning and
remember to be your own best friend.
Be well and stay that way,
