Love the sadness!

This past week has been one of
adjustment and re-entry. I returned
to my home in Massachusetts after
spending almost a month with my
daughters in Budapest, Hungary.

We all had a wonderful time and
I cherish the photos and memories,
but, I have been missing them terribly.

The sad news came last week, when my
daughter phoned and told me that Jasper,
their beloved pet dog of 14 years, had
suddenly taken ill and had to be put to
sleep.

Jasper’s passing was a shock to all of us
and the heartache and sadness was very real.
A number of times, during the week, I was
surprised to find myself crying so freely.

Truly at the core of many of our struggles,
sadness is genuine, honest and worthy of
the tears that flow without effort.

It was a card from my younger daughter
that brought hope and lightness back to my
heart and spirit. I am sharing what she said,
because I want you to pretend you are saying
these same words to yourself at your own
tender moments of sadness.

…”I am sorry you are going through
such a hard time. You are the
strongest person I know. You will
get through this and come out even
more beautiful than you are.

I know it is hard but I will always
love you and be there for you.
We are in this together.

Life can throw us curve balls, but we
must be ready to swing the bat and
hit a homer! Love your sad self!”….

I love it when my kids remind me to
love myself!!

And I will remind you to do just that,
love your precious self, unconditionally!
